The Final Frontier: A Bio-Based Source for Super Absorbents
Since the turn of this century, our industry has made incredible strides towards developing hygiene articles sourced from naturally derived fibers and components.
However, the final hurdle for us to innovate on also happens to be the largest - especially in diapers - which is the Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP). The vast majority of SAP in use by the hygiene industry today is sourced from fossil-fuel based ingredients, a practice with known implications on the environment. Further complicating the future for our industry is that petroleum-based SAP is also derived from a finite and dwindling source. To secure our industry’s future let alone the impact it has on our environmental outlook, a bio-based SAP is considered our industry’s Final Frontier.
For the better part of a decade, ZymoChem – a leader in sustainability and biomanufacturing – has been refining its patented process and breakthrough technology to create a bio-based and biodegradable SAP for use in a host of applications, with hygiene chief among them.
At this year’s Hygienix Conference, hear from industry veteran, Louis Chapdelaine, Director of Consumer Product Development, on ZymoChem's innovative approach, collaboration with industry thought leaders, and how this product’s launch benefits stakeholders across our entire industry.
