Revolutionizing Feminine Care: Transforming Packaging Through Flushable, Biodegradable, and Sustainable Solutions
Life cycle data reveals striking differences. When comparing a standard paper carton to SmartSolve’s flushable 3x15 water-soluble package, landfill disposal creates the greatest environmental burden. With 50% methane capture (typical in developed regions), landfilled paper boxes exhibit 3–4 times higher global warming potential (GWP) than flushed SmartSolve 3x15 packs. In scenarios with 0% methane capture—common in developing regions or older landfills—the gap widens further, underscoring the value of a flushable pathway.
The benefits extend when comparing SmartSolve 3x15 to conventional plastic sachets made of oriented polypropylene (OPP). In regions with inadequate waste management, OPP packaging contributes to persistent plastic pollution and leakage into the environment. A flushable, water-soluble alternative eliminates this source entirely, offering a scalable solution aligned with global plastic reduction mandates.
SmartSolve’s approach keeps the consumer in mind: maintaining the convenience of single-use packaging while delivering a Zero Waste end-of-life outcome. By flipping the design approach—starting with material selection based on responsible disposal—we create packaging that meets user needs without leaving behind long-term waste.
Backed by FG 502 flushability testing and demonstrated in partnership with Daye, the first tampon brand to adopt a water-soluble wrapper, SmartSolve proves how rethinking materials can redefine sustainability for absorbent hygiene products.
