Unleashing Cellulosic Possibilities: A Collaborative Path Toward Sustainable Hygiene Solutions
In a world increasingly driven by responsible innovation on the one hand and cost pressure on the other hand, the hygiene industry stands at a pivotal crossroads. It introduces a groundbreaking collaboration between Lenzing, a global leader in sustainable fiber innovation, and Fibertex, a renowned manufacturer for high performance nonwoven materials, aimed at unleashing new possibilities for the future of absorbent hygiene products through cellulosic nonwoven solutions.
This partnership was founded on a shared vision: to unlock the full potential of cellulosic materials in hygiene applications by combining Lenzing’s expertise in biobased fibers with Fibertex’s advanced nonwoven technologies and knowhow. Together, we are developing a new generation of nonwoven materials that are not only high-performing and cost-efficient but also rooted in environmental responsibility.
The session will explore the development and application of the VEOCEL™ Intimate fiber portfolio—Lenzing’s dedicated range of specialty cellulosic fibers designed specifically for hygiene and personal care. These fibers are derived from renewable wood sources and produced in an environmentally responsible process, offering a unique combination of softness, purity, and biodegradability. With the motto “Care begins within,” VEOCEL™ Intimate fibers are engineered to meet the most sensitive needs of the human body while supporting a sustainable economy.
Through this collaboration, Lenzing and Fibertex are leveraging various production technologies to create cellulosic nonwoven substrates that deliver superior performance in absorbency, comfort, and fluid management. These innovations are designed with end-of-life in mind—targeting industrial compostability and reduced environmental impact without compromising on functionality or cost-effectiveness.
The presentation will highlight key technical milestones, including the integration of VEOCEL™ fibers into a range of nonwoven materials, pilot-scale trials, and performance benchmarking of Fibertex’ solutions against conventional synthetic materials. We want to give insights into how cellulosic nonwovens can be tailored for various hygiene product layers —from top sheets, ADLs up to back sheets.
Fibertex & Lenzing aim to address with this presentation the broader implications for the hygiene industry, including the potential to reduce plastic dependency, enhance product transparency, and meet the growing consumer demand for natural and safe materials. By showcasing real-world prototypes and data-driven results, we aim to inspire manufacturers, brand owners, and sustainability leaders to embrace the cellulosic revolution.
New cellulosic possibilities lie ahead—where innovation meets nature, and care begins within.”
